The Newport News Planning Commission voted unanimously on May 7 to defer consideration of conditional use application CU2025Tech0003, involving Ferguson Enterprises LLC and Costco Wholesale Corporation, until the May 21, 2025 public hearing.
At the start of the meeting the commission’s staff asked to defer CU2025Tech0003. A motion to defer the item to the May 21 public hearing was made, seconded, and approved by roll call with a 9–0 tally. The staff note included that the applicant’s attorney had submitted one public comment card; planning staff confirmed the attorney was present and the item was deferred without discussion.
Chairperson Taylor solicited a motion for deferral and the commission proceeded to a roll-call vote. The clerk recorded each commissioner voting in favor; the motion carried 9–0. No additional public testimony was taken on the record for this item at the May 7 meeting.
