Historic commission continues 958 Woodruff Place case after applicant cites delayed window deliveries

The Indianapolis Historic Preservation Commission voted to continue review of work at 958 Woodruff Place after the applicant said window deliveries had been delayed.

Ali Khan, the applicant, told the commission the front siding replacement is nearly finished and that two of the three replacement windows had arrived while one remained undelivered. "They said it's still March 9, but I wanted to make sure, so I reached out to the supplier, and they said that the estimated date is May 16," Khan said, and asked the commission to continue the case until July 7.

The request followed Khan's monthly check-in with staff about the Certificate of Appropriateness application. Senior architectural reviewer Shelby Longer confirmed staff had no additional comments and could answer questions if needed. Commission members asked procedural questions about the item and then moved to continue the case.

Commissioner David Baker made the motion to continue the case to July 7; a fellow commissioner identified in the record as Mike seconded it. The chair called the voice vote; the motion carried with no recorded opposition.

The applicant said siding work had already begun and "should be completed within a week," and that staff had received progress photos. Khan said if the supplier honors the May 16 delivery estimate he expected to return in June to report completion.

The continuation preserves the commission's ability to review final window installations and any remaining front facade work at a later hearing. No new conditions or stipulations were adopted at the May meeting.
