Owner says construction progressing at 119 East Kingfish; building official expects next inspection

The Substandard Structure Review Board received an update that construction at 119 East Kingfish is ongoing and inspectors have not yet issued a certificate of occupancy.
Filiberto Alba, the building official, said construction at Mister Maldonado’s property had not finished and the department had not issued a certificate of occupancy; the last inspection on record was for insulation on March 15. Alba said the next inspection will be for sheetrock.
Owner Guadalupe Maldonado told the board the work is progressing, that electrical outlets and plugs are next, followed by tile and other finishes, and that stucco work on the front is largely complete. He estimated he would request a certificate of occupancy in about two to two-and-a-half months.
A board member advised Maldonado to delay installing plugs and switches until finishing taping, floating, texturing and painting and to do tile before final electrical to avoid rework. The board took no formal action on the item.
