Paul McCroffley, owner of Taco Town at 74 Hudson Avenue, presented proposed exterior improvements at the May 7 planning-board meeting. The project would replace deteriorated brick on the front facade up to window sill height, remove an older overhang and awnings, install new canvas awnings above doors and windows, add soft down-lighting at entrances and update vertical siding on the side elevation to match a previously repaired panel.
McCroffley said the current condition is deteriorated from deicing salt and plow impacts and that repairing only the damaged sections would have been prohibitively expensive; the owner proposed a façade refresh focused on the primary frontage. He told the board he will return with sign designs at a later date.
Staff and board comments focused on material samples, code compliance for egress/overhangs and scheduling any required assembly-space inspections. The planning board’s fire prevention officer asked the owner to schedule assembly/inspection with fire prevention before construction begins; the owner agreed to coordinate the inspection.
Outcome No formal objection was recorded. The board asked the applicant to provide material samples and to schedule required fire and assembly inspections before commencing work; a sign application will return separately for review.
