Ball Ground business-park hearing postponed after applicant seeks more time for traffic study

Cherokee County planning staff and commissioners postponed final action on a rezoning and site-plan application for the Parks Huffer Ball Ground Business Park after the applicant said the project’s revised site plan requires more analysis.
Thomas Triwicoy, county planning staff, told the joint public hearing that case 2502003 was ready to be continued because “they're still waiting for a traffic study” and that a revised site plan shows additional industrial buildings. He said the applicant requested additional time to complete the study and to hold another public-input meeting.
Commissioners discussed timing and agreed a two-month postponement would allow the applicant to avoid the Memorial Day holiday and to give staff time to re-notice a hearing. A motion to postpone the case for two months was made and carried.
Because the applicant submitted a changed site plan, Triwicoy said the county will reopen the public hearing on the application at the rescheduled meeting so affected neighbors will have another opportunity to comment.
Next steps: staff will re-notice the application for the commission’s meeting in two months and post the revised site plan and traffic study when provided. No final rezoning, special-use permit, or variance decisions were made at the May hearing.
