A commissioner thanked staff (Jennifer) for preparing the comprehensive resolution and said the draft captured the town’s steps to address the issues the legislature said it intended to fix, while noting the draft proposals still constrained local powers. Another commissioner said the resolution was necessary to signal the town’s position and to ask the General Assembly to preserve local authority and meaningful public process.
A motion to adopt the resolution was moved and seconded; the board voted unanimously in favor. Commissioners indicated they will transmit the resolution to the General Assembly and to the League of Municipalities for consideration and coordination among municipalities as state bills advance.
