Town staff recommend Berry Building Group as low bidder for Town Hall third‑floor remodel

Mickey Rochelle, the town’s facilities director, presented the results of a competitive bidding process for a third‑floor remodel at Wake Forest Town Hall and recommended proceeding with Berry Building Group as the lowest qualified bidder.
Rochelle said the town received three qualifying bids for the renovation. The proposed design, prepared by Gensler, reduces large private offices in favor of smaller workstations to accommodate current staff needs, add 15 additional employee workspaces and create two additional meeting rooms.
Rochelle told commissioners the remodel will allow the town to accommodate engineering, planning and other department staff and provide flexibility for future departmental changes. He said the remodel would be performed to meet the needs of employees and that Gensler worked with staff to produce the plan.
The contract recommendation will appear on the consent agenda for an upcoming meeting; tonight’s presentation gave commissioners an opportunity to ask questions about space design and bid selection.
Commissioners did not take a formal vote during the presentation; staff indicated the contract approval would be requested on the consent agenda at a future regular meeting.
