During Tuesday’s agenda-setting session, Thurston County commissioners and staff discussed logistics for proclamations and photos during the afternoon board meeting and noted a consent reappointment to the Emergency Medical Services Council.
Chair Ty Mentzer said proclamations will be handled with one speaker per proclamation where possible, and staff will provide a script that identifies each speaker by name. Commissioners and staff discussed asking proclamation speakers to remain briefly after their remarks to receive their proclamations at the dais and to take a group photo on the boardroom stairs if they wish. Communications staff said they can coordinate with speakers to set expectations and arrange a single group photo after all proclamations are complete.
Staff also noted Consent Item 3 is a reappointment to the Emergency Medical Services Council; the clerk said the board had reviewed the item previously and that language would be added per earlier direction. The Habitat for Humanity item will remain in department items; the public hearing on the county code amendment about disposition of public property for affordable housing was moved to May 20 after a noticing issue (see separate article).
No formal votes were recorded in the agenda-setting session for these consent items; consent items will appear on the afternoon agenda.
