Franklin County proclaims May 2025 as Mental Health Month

The Franklin County Board of Commissioners voted to proclaim May 2025 as Mental Health Month in the county.
Corey Selhammer, who led remarks for the observance, urged residents and staff to prioritize mental health and described the month as an opportunity to "take care of yourselves." "Every one of us in this room has mental health," Selhammer said. "...help others know where they can go to look and know that it's okay to ask."
Commissioners thanked mental-health staff for their work. The proclamation text cited national statistics and encouraged residents to access services and supports. Commissioners approved the proclamation by voice vote.
Separately during the meeting, the county's mental-health office delivered a longer presentation (see separate article) outlining services, funding sources and crisis-intervention training in the community.
