Granbury City Council voted 6-0 to approve ordinance 25-23 to change zoning for a small parcel at 301 Kings Plaza from interim holding to heavy commercial.
City staff said the request is consistent with the future land use plan and the parcel will be joined to an adjacent commercial property. Community Development Director Kara Wawe told the council infrastructure is in place and that the change aligns with surrounding heavy commercial zoning.
City Manager Kaufman said the rezoning is the final administrative step in a transaction that includes the city conveying an unused strip of land to the adjoining property owner and a platting step to consolidate properties.
Sorel DeSoto, speaking for People Helping People and present with board president Anthony Cupack, thanked staff and invited council members to volunteer at the organization’s food service program. “We serve food Monday, Wednesday and Friday,” DeSoto said, and added that staff were helpful during the application process.
Councilmember Wadley moved to approve the ordinance; Councilmember Overdure seconded. The motion passed 6-0 with no recorded nay votes.
