City staff told the council a traffic signal update is due Wednesday and that a rail extension pre‑construction meeting with contractors is scheduled for Thursday, with work expected to begin thereafter.
Council and staff promoted community events: the Plymouth County Cyclists, Bike Central and the YMCA will hold a bike safety fair (formerly called a rodeo) on May 15 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the YMCA; the city also reminded residents of spring cleanup dates that allow up to 1,000 pounds free at the landfill on May 10 and May 12–16 (appliances and electronics excluded).
A councilmember asked to revisit the city’s tree ordinance to clarify authority to remove dangerous limbs in the parkway or over sidewalks; staff and officials agreed to schedule a meeting to review potential tweaks so dangerous limbs that pose a risk to schoolchildren or pedestrians can be removed by city action when warranted.
Council also noted loose dogs were observed on the recreation trail near ball diamonds and disc golf; members asked residents to keep dogs leashed during high‑traffic times. The next town hall is scheduled for May 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Fire Station No. 1 near the library.
