The city manager told the Manteca City Council on May 6 that the Woodward Park splash pad had a formal groundbreaking and is expected to open toward the end of summer 2025 after a lengthy schedule for restrooms and site work.
The manager listed several upcoming community events, including a pancake breakfast hosted by the fire department (May 10), Music in Maple (May 15 kickoff), the police bike rodeo (May 17), a community garden ribbon cutting (June 12), Movies in the Park (June 14), a senior center roundtable (June 18), and a Stockton Ports community night for Manteca (June 19). The city manager encouraged residents to follow city social media for updates on exact opening dates.
The manager also announced that the city’s public works director will be leaving for a new position with the City of Livermore later in May; councilmembers thanked the director for his service and wished him well.
Councilmembers noted other community activities, including large youth events at the BMX track and volunteer projects such as Love Manteca, and asked staff to follow up on traffic‑calming and signal synchronization in a separate agenda item.
