Community Corrections Director Catherine Sparks presented the board with a third‑quarter update on adult and juvenile supervision, programming and grant activity.
Sparks said the adult caseload shows 100 clients signed, with 45 considered active and 55 inactive. She reported a year‑to‑date success rate of 80 percent, an increase she attributed to improved case management and in‑office programming. Sparks said 27 adult clients had gone through programs in the period, with 13 completing successfully.
On the juvenile side, Sparks said the office supervises 10 juveniles (7 active and 3 inactive), and reported 41 intakes over the three quarters, with referrals and programming activity ongoing. She described a grant that provides juvenile programming through October 2027 and said the office is seeking to fund electronic monitoring start‑up costs so some youths can remain in the community instead of detention.
Sparks said KDOC requested some budget and program clarifications; she plans to return unspent KDOC funds that were intended to support an additional FTE because the $14,000 funding did not cover benefits. The board approved routine administrative items and received the report; no formal action altering programs was taken at the meeting.
