Wilson told the board that in the prior fiscal year the agency provided roughly $140,000 to Project Concern and about $78,000 to Amberwell to support meals and home services in Atchison County. She said the match funds help the agency secure federal and state grants that fund case management, homemaker and attendant care services, nutrition and senior counseling services across the seven‑county region the agency serves.
Wilson described additional agency activities including Medicaid application assistance, senior insurance counseling for Medicare Part D enrollment, transportation programs in some counties, a pet‑food assistance program for isolated seniors, and a new VA program. She said the agency serves residents across seven counties and that the required county match is calculated by the population 60 and older.
Commissioners asked questions about service delivery, local providers and how the match is expended. No vote was taken at the meeting; Wilson said the match request was the same amount submitted in prior years.
