Board approves Chromebook and device purchase, plus district signage upgrade

Technology staff said the purchases will come from a combination of federal Elementary and Secondary School (ESA) funding, other federal sources and local allocations where permitted. The district requested board authorization up to $300,000 for 745 Chromebooks (lowest bid presented was $289,855), up to $58,000 for 55 instructional devices (bid $54,945) and up to $38,000 for approximately 400 updated interior signage units (bid $32,217) to be paid from Title IV funds. The district framed the purchases as part of a five‑year rotation plan intended to maintain a predictable replacement cycle for student and staff devices.
Tasha and other technology staff explained that the devices are intended to stabilize classroom technology access and reduce the administrative burden of emergency replacements. Board discussion cited shifting hardware prices and tariffs as reasons to set a not‑to‑exceed ceiling for the purchases.
A motion was made and the board approved the purchases with the higher not‑to‑exceed figures to provide flexibility to finalize procurement when contracts and tariffs are confirmed.
