Sam Perotti, president of the Odds Group of Hermosa Beach and producer of the Fine Arts Festival, presented the festival’s logistics and outreach plans to the commission on May 6.
Perotti said the festival will be held Saturday–Sunday, June 7–8 with setup on June 6; an artist reception will be held Friday, June 6 from 5–8 p.m. at the Hermosa Beach Museum. He said the festival typically uses 10-by-10 pop-up tents for artist booths and that the organizers rent the South Bay Alano Club parking lot for artist parking to avoid using community-center spaces taken by concurrent events.
Perotti said organizers expect about 75 artists, operate student-art booths (three booth spaces for student art and two for younger children’s crafts) and run a raffle that includes a donated bicycle from Hermosa Cycle. He also cited scholarship donations coordinated by a local donor and noted coordination with the Kiwanis Club and Boy Scouts for concessions and staffing.
Allison Corteen, the festival secretary, said the Friday reception is intended as an intimate opportunity for artists to meet each other and the public; the reception is free and held in the museum setting. Commissioners asked about marketing and outreach; Perotti said the festival uses a website, social media (Facebook and Instagram), local media listings and postcards/posters.
Perotti said the festival has vacancies on its board and invited community members to apply.
No formal action was required.
