Oswego approves $5,000 economic incentive for downtown donut shop

The Village Board on May 6 approved an ordinance authorizing an economic incentive agreement with Choose Healthy LLC (William L. Helgason and Maria Helgason) for improvements at 25 Main Street.
Economic development staff described the request as a scaled-back application based on a project budget of about $15,550, with $5,000 requested to fund an awning (about $5,000), safety bollards (eligible under the program) and improvements to the parking lot. Staff said a larger prior application seeking close to $50,000 was revised because major parking-lot rehabilitation would be considered general maintenance and therefore ineligible under the program.
Kevin Leidy, economic development director, and staff recommended approval because the revised scope meets program eligibility. The board approved the ordinance by roll-call vote; trustees present voted yes.
