Cottonwood Heights approves ordinance tightening weapons-discharge rule, ratifies Canyon Center interlocal agreements and adopts tentative budget

Mayor Mike Wickers and the Cottonwood Heights City Council on May 6, 2025, unanimously approved a series of ordinances, resolutions, interlocal agreements, committee appointments and a tentative fiscal year 2025–26 budget. The Community Development and Renewal Agency (CDRA) board chaired by Mayor Wickers also ratified amended interlocal agreements for the Canyon Center community development project area.

The CDRA action completed a multi-step approval process for revisions to the Canyon Center project area plan. A staff representative described the vote as the final step needed to “formally adopt all of the changes made to the Canyon Center development agreement,” including a change of use from an office building to a condominium structure and associated changes to the project-area plan and budget. The CDRA ratification will be posted for a 30-day appeal period; if no appeal is filed the changes stand.
