Stanley described experience working on private‑lands and land‑use issues, including participation on local land‑use advocacy boards and as a farmer. During her interview she said she brings a land‑stewardship and environmental perspective to planning, and emphasized a willingness to learn technical materials such as development plans and the comprehensive plan. Applicants Zach Abia and one other were also considered; council members noted having reviewed all applications and said they had been impressed by the community commitment shown by the candidates.
Council members who supported Stanley cited an environmental viewpoint they said was not currently represented on the commission. Councilwoman Deen said she would support Stanley “because she brings an environmental perspective to the group that is not currently represented.” Other members praised the applicants’ dedication and experience and said the commission benefits from a mix of professional and non‑professional perspectives.
The town attorney and staff noted the mayor makes appointments with the advice and consent of the council under the town ordinance governing appointments; the council’s vote completed the advice‑and‑consent step.
No additional conditions or amendments to the appointment were recorded at the time of the vote. The council scheduled no immediate follow‑up action tied to the appointment; Stanley’s term expiration date was stated at the time of appointment.
