Maury County Health Department seeks $14,001 contract for cameras, approves renovation savings and expands behavioral-health space use

Maury County’s Health Department asked the committee on Monday to move a $14,001.86 security-camera contract to the budget commission and reported progress and cost adjustments on an ongoing renovation project.

Health Department official Mr. Kenny said the department has a contract ready with Provencia to install interior cameras focused on exit doors and exterior cameras covering the parking lot. He said the interior cameras will not cover patient areas and the system aims to address frequent hit-and-run incidents in the parking lot and improve staff safety. "We do have that in our budget," Mr. Kenny told commissioners, and the committee voted to send the contract to budget for formal approval.

Kenny also presented a change order from Walled Architects tied to current renovation work. He told commissioners that flooring, restrooms, specimen-collection rooms and the med-room/lab area are about 70 percent complete and that the proposed change order would reduce the project cost by $86,000. The commission voted to move that budget change forward.

Separately, the department asked to renew a memorandum of understanding with Volunteer Behavioral Health to continue allowing that group to use an office in the department building to see patients. Kenny said Volunteer Behavioral Health currently operates at the county space two days a week and requested an additional day; the group provides its own staff and internet service and the county incurs no direct cost for the space. The committee approved continuing and expanding the MOU.

Kenny also noted planned parking-lot patches by the county highway department and marked the start of nurses week.

Actions taken at the meeting will be forwarded to the budget commission as required for formal budget adjustments.
