On May 6, 2025 the New Shoreham Town Council approved a monthly rent of $2,600 for the town manager’s house and directed staff to include earlier-discussed clarifications in the related policy and leases, including prior approval for pets and standard vacate guidance.
Council members discussed how to handle a mid-lease turnover if the town later needed the house to attract a new manager. Staff and council agreed leases should generally remain one-year terms (consistent with prior consent-order requirements for some units) but noted leases can be handled case by case if the town needs to buy out a tenant or otherwise negotiate an exit to house a new manager.
The council confirmed town-level ranking for manager’s-house candidates mirrors other housing hierarchy rules (town employees, school and other executive-level employees, etc.) and that lease instruments will be brought back to the council for consent-level consideration.
Approval passed by voice vote after a motion to set rent and adopt the minor amendments; the record shows the council intends to maintain flexibility within one-year lease structures when manager turnover or other exigent needs require it.
