Board approves Wilson County Juvenile Crime Prevention Council funding recommendations for FY2025–26

The Wilson County Board of Commissioners received and approved the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council (JCPC) executive summary and funding recommendations for fiscal year 2025–26 following a presentation by David Moody, chair of the county JCPC.
Moody and county staff told commissioners the JCPC conducted a risk-and-needs assessment and published a request for proposals; the council prioritized services including mentoring, parent-and-family skill building, vocational and interpersonal skill development, restitution/community service programs, teen court and mediation, therapeutic foster care, tutoring and monitoring programs.
As required by statute, the JCPC recommended allocations of North Carolina Department of Public Safety Division of Juvenile Justice funds to specific programs and amounts as read into the record. The funding amounts stated in the meeting were: teen court and mediation, $83,200; transition/reentry, $72,000; therapeutic foster care, $43,987; and Wilson County community service, as read in the transcript, $903,245. The JCPC further recommended administrative funds for council operations for the fiscal year as stated in the summary.
Chairman Boyette and commissioners thanked JCPC members for their work and moved to approve the executive summary and funding allocations; the motion carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded on the transcript.
The JCPC presentation and the board's approval direct staff to implement the allocations and to continue bilingual outcome monitoring and program evaluation, consistent with the council's plan.
