Orbis, vice mayor of West Miami and a county employee for many years, addressed the board after the vote, thanking commissioners and saying she would "work every day to earn your trust" and to "be present and listen" to District 6 residents. She said she accepted the appointment "with humility, gratitude, and a full heart."
