Washington County elections office begins mailing ballots for May election, officials say

County elections staff updated the board that over 400,000 ballots were mailed to registered voters across Washington County for the May election and that most voters should receive their ballots by May 7.
County staff said ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before Election Day and that no postage is required to return a ballot. Voters may also deposit ballots at any of 21 official ballot drop boxes that are accessible 24 hours a day. The elections office also said ballots include several school board races and local funding measures.
County staff provided a phone number for voter questions and directed residents to the Washington County website for more information. No changes to ballot deadlines or procedures were announced during the work session.
