Clean Water Services outlines budget timetable; county and CWS to review audit-committee applicants

A Clean Water Services representative told the Washington County Board of Commissioners that the utilityis continuing its budget and rates work and will present options for a June 17 public hearing on rates and charges.
The representative said staff are preparing responses to questions from the Clean Water Services budget committee and will present proposed budgets and financial forecasts at a June work session. "We are looking forward to presenting our proposed for May, Friday, May '20 third to continue, our discussions," the speaker said, with meeting dates for discussion and a June 17 budget adoption on the calendar.
The representative also said Clean Water Services has launched a web page and is accepting applications for a new Audit Committee, with a May 27 work session to review applicants and a future consent-calendar item to recommend a financial auditor to the board.
Earlier in the work session, Commissioner Pam Trees sought clarification about a contract award for financial audit services listed on the county consent agenda (Thomas Adams). Staff clarified that the listed contract is for the county's regular financial audit and is not related to the other RNO matter referenced in the meeting.
No board votes were taken during the work session. Clean Water Services staff and county budget staff said they expect additional questions and a June 3 work session to review financial forecasts, depending on agenda scheduling.
