Health department leadership said the department’s baseline operating budget in 2024 was roughly $8.2 million, with about $2.7 million in grant funding subject to federal decisions. “If we lose 30% of that [grant] funding, that’s about $800,000, which is 10% of our overall budget,” the presenter said, describing an internal threshold at which long-term operations would become “really, really difficult” for a department of the county’s size.
