The board heard that officers responded to a complaint and verified that a person under 21 was able to complete a purchase without being carded. Attorney Greg Genrich and owner Jay Singh acknowledged the incident, told the board the employee involved was suspended and that the store has since tightened ID-check policies and instituted new employee documentation and laminated signage on doors and inside the store.
Board members described the complaint-based investigation as more concerning than a single compliance check because it indicated a pattern: when minors learn they can purchase at a location, they may return repeatedly. The owner said the store now requires scanned IDs at point of sale and maintains employee training records. The board approved a one-year renewal and warned that another verified sale to minors during that period would likely lead to a denial.
No criminal charges were filed by the board; the action was limited to licensing oversight.
