Staff also reported open positions in the engineer’s office and mechanic shop, equipment quote activity, and preparation for seal‑coat work later in the season. Crack‑filling and slurry contractors may require short, staggered access closures and possible additional water‑spraying work orders to cool fresh asphalt; staff said they will coordinate with property owners and the Smithfield site.
Supervisors thanked crews for safety-minded driving behavior observed by constituents and asked staff to follow up with any landowners who called with concerns.
