Project team: 60% estimate due in June; NEPA draft comments being resolved, demolition targeted for June

Project staff told the Revere City School Building Committee that key schedule and permitting milestones remain on track while the team completes 60% construction documents and prepares for bidding.
The 60% estimating set is scheduled for publication on June 6. Dual estimating and review teams will spend June reconciling estimates, with the team aiming to reconcile those estimates by June 30 and present a 60% update to the committee on July 16. Staff said they will circulate the estimating materials to the committee and that teams will be meeting through June to finalize numbers.
On permitting, the project team reported it had received an approved draft environmental impact report under NEPA. The team is working through agency comments on the draft and plans to submit a final environmental impact report by July 15.
The team described third‑party reviewers engaged for technical oversight: a commissioning agent assigned by the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) will review mechanical systems and the building envelope; Code Red (as a subconsultant to Left Field) will perform a life‑safety and fire protection peer review; a structural peer review is being procured with proposals due June 6; and a Chapter 30B procurement will be launched for a construction materials testing agent (soil, concrete, steel tests) with an anticipated multi‑year spend in the hundreds of thousands.
Left Field and Consigli said the project remains on schedule to begin site demolition in June and transition to full building construction in late August to September, pending successful completion of NEPA and permitting tasks. Staff emphasized that several third‑party reviews will remain engaged through construction to perform shop‑drawing reviews and field verification.
