The initial tasks will be building raised beds and filling them with soil; staff said the garden may host smaller summer/fall plantings this year and will be evaluated at the end of the season to determine whether to formalize plots or rental beds in future years.
Staff and committee members discussed volunteer scheduling; staff said they will track turnout and adjust frequency of workdays if needed. The site is at the former Geneva Manning Park location behind Pearson Bikes on Lookout Road; the town removed underutilized playground equipment and repurposed the space for the community garden.
Staff encouraged committee members and residents to attend the May workday and said they will share details and materials lists by email.
