Rogers County commissioners on May 8 discussed a request from Oklahoma State University Extension to replace worn tables and chairs at the County Building on Brady Street. Staff said the existing tables were purchased about 18 years ago and chairs are older than that and are showing wear.
Commissioners discussed funding sources and whether the county’s educational facilities account could be used to purchase replacements; staff said using that fund is consistent with the room’s educational use and that the building is provided for public meetings with an educational component. Commissioners agreed not to wait until the August or September meeting cycle and instead struck the item from the current agenda to schedule a special meeting to expedite a decision.
No purchase was approved at the May 8 meeting; commissioners instructed staff to organize a special meeting to consider funding and to provide product availability details before that meeting.
