Evans said the pause is intended to avoid surprising residents while the council reviews whether ordinances or enforcement policies should be adjusted. “For right now, we’re kind of come with a gentleman’s agreement to not enforce any of these things for the next 30 days or so until this council can decide what we want to do,” Evans said, and clarified that city staff were carrying out existing law and ordinance when enforcement occurred.
He listed examples of enforcement actions that will be paused, including tree removal enforcement and moving sheds, and told residents the pause is not intended to chastise enforcement staff but to give the council time to consider policy changes.
