Berkeley County’s Public Utilities Committee recommended awarding the landfill fencing contract to Global Fence and Supply LLC after the IFB closed on April 22, 2025.
Staff reported the county received seven bids for the landfill fencing project; two were nonresponsive and the low responsive bid came from Global Fence and Supply LLC in the amount of $236,425.92. The bid package called for approximately 9,000 linear feet of fencing in the base documents.
Committee members asked staff to clarify the project’s public-safety rationale; staff said the fencing is intended to reduce trespassing, illegal hunting and equipment theft at the county landfill. Staff recalled a past incident in which equipment was taken and a county vehicle became stuck after being dumped in a ditch.
A motion to approve the contract award carried by voice vote. Staff said the successful bidder met the bid requirements and references. The project will move forward under standard county contracting procedures.
Next steps: Procurement staff will finalize the contract with Global Fence and Supply LLC and notify unsuccessful bidders.
