Chase County commissioners on May 12 voted on a series of routine and substantive items including approval of warrants, minutes, multiple contracts, a small grant request and authorization for the county attorney to begin the tax‑sale process.
The board approved the meeting warrants and the minutes from the April 30, 2025 meeting by voice votes. The board then approved a request from the city of Cottonwood Falls for $1,500 from the county’s crime prevention fund to support the city’s July 3, 2025 fireworks display; Commissioner Miller recorded an abstention on that vote.
The commissioners approved a contract with Cindy Jensen, certified public accountant, to conduct the county audit and assist with the budget for $15,650. They also approved an appraisal services contract with Macaulay Group for $15,300 to support valuation work the county uses for tax rolls and reappraisal tasks.
The board signed a renewal of a lease used for road equipment (the Road Raider lease) on the same terms as a prior 2021 agreement.
The commissioners authorized the county attorney to begin the statutory notice process to pursue a tax sale for properties that have delinquent taxes. The motion directs the attorney and treasurer to notify homeowners and other property owners of impending tax‑sale proceedings and to return with timing details.
Finally, the board authorized staff to sign purchase documents for a new Kenworth dump truck and to solicit financing; that item is covered separately in the meeting.
