Washington County commissioners voted 4-0 to approve a $100,000 county match to a Department of Commerce conditional loan for SJ Incorporated, which plans to build an IV bag and capsule manufacturing facility in the county.
"We're here before you today to seek approval to match a conditional loan offer by the department of commerce to SJ Incorporated, who will be constructing an IV bag and capsule manufacturing facility," Jonathan Horowitz, director of business and economic development, told the commissioners. Horowitz said the company plans roughly $35,000,000 in capital investment and is anticipated to create 300 jobs over the next two years.
A county commissioner asked for the size of the county match. Horowitz said the county match is 10% of the state's $1,000,000 conditional loan, equal to $100,000, and that the source of funds is the hotel rental tax fund. Lynn Dispense, financial programs administrator for the department of business and economic development, was present for the request and answered procedural questions.
A motion to approve a resolution accepting and matching the state's conditional loan was made and seconded; commissioners voted in favor by voice with no oppositions recorded. The clerk summarized the result as 4-0.
There were no other substantive items after the vote and the meeting adjourned shortly afterward.
