Davis County Conservatives PAC seeks local candidates, schedules fundraising events and urges delegate turnout

Davis County Conservatives organizer Tina Horlacher told attendees at a local meeting that the group is a political action committee and is recruiting candidates for county offices while planning fundraising events and outreach ahead of the Utah GOP organizing convention.

"We actually are a PAC, a political action committee," Horlacher said, describing the group's three stated purposes: informing the community, recruiting candidates and mobilizing supporters. She said the group meets on the second and fourth Thursday of every month except for July and December and asked state delegates to "please attend and stay the whole time" at the upcoming Utah GOP organizing convention.

Horlacher said the PAC is looking specifically for candidates to fill county commission seats, county auditor and county clerk positions. She also announced a series of movie-night fundraisers at the Kaysville Theatre that will screen the original Star Wars trilogy; she listed May 31 for Episode IV and June 14 for The Empire Strikes Back and referenced a third screening for Return of the Jedi but the date given by the speaker was unclear.

Organizers said tickets will be $7 each, with group pricing of $6 per ticket for families or groups of four or more. Each paid ticket includes one raffle entry; additional raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each. Attendees were asked to sign up for an email list and were told a Venmo link would be provided for payments. Horlacher also said the group streams events online and that the last event had been "viewed 500 times." She said the PAC would "pass the can around asking for money" at the meeting.

The meeting included a scheduled presentation by guest speaker Daniel Jenkins on soil biology and gardening practices. Horlacher also announced two upcoming presentations: Larry Hilton of the Utah Precious Metals Association will speak about proposals to return to a gold-backed standard, and a "patriot camp" for families in colonial attire is planned for the second Thursday in June.
