The St. Tammany Parish School Board committee voted unanimously to recommend substantial completion of the Fontainebleau High School additions and heard a presentation on how the district will select architects and consultants for bond-funded projects.
Miss Tipton presented the recommendation for substantial completion for project number 1945; Miss McCollum moved the recommendation and Mr. Harrell seconded. The motion passed unanimously, moving the recommendation forward as subject to standard regulatory approvals.
Facilities staff then described the process to implement the bond referendum projects. The district said it will advertise requests for qualifications (RFQs) for design teams and consultants, accept responses after a roughly three-week advertisement period, and form a selection committee to evaluate submittals. "The evaluation occurs with a selection committee," Miss Tipton said. "That process usually takes about, from start to finish... a 3 to 4 month sort of time frame from start to finish." Staff said there are 25 projects in the bond list and that selection committees typically include staff and public members with construction or design experience.
Project scheduling will prioritize classroom needs and removal of portables; larger multi-phase projects such as full school rebuilds or major renovations will take longer and may require modular classroom sequencing. Staff said they expect RFQ responses by late June or early July and will return committee recommendations to the board once evaluations are complete.
Ending: The committee approved the Fontainebleau substantial-completion recommendation and directed staff to proceed with RFQs for bond projects, with staff estimating a multi-month selection process before projects move to bid.
