Siloam Springs board approves consent agenda, contracts, bids and personnel actions

The Siloam Springs School District Board of Education approved the consent agenda and a series of contracts, bids and personnel items during its May meeting.
Board members voted in a single session to approve routine items including the meeting minutes from April 13, 2025, personnel transfers and student discipline matters; accept a finance report; award two maintenance bids for middle school work; authorize an after-school care contract and multiple therapy service agreements; approve quarterly compensation for teachers carrying more than 50 students in a day; and accept a list of resignations and hires for the 2025–26 school year.
Why it matters: The approvals clear the way for summer maintenance at the middle school, establish third-party providers for after-school and therapy services for the coming year, and finalize a slate of staffing changes and new positions before the next school year.
Key details: The board accepted a low bid of $40,000 from CPS of Northwest Arkansas Incorporated to paint the middle school exterior and accepted a single bid of $54,004.44 for lot seal-and-striping work. The after-school care operator will rent district facilities for $1,250 per month per site and provide its own staff; the contract is renewable annually. The board approved five outside therapy contracts (speech, occupational and physical therapy) for use when district staff are not available. Three teachers (Amy Benson, Arlie Templeton and Cameron King) were approved for extra compensation after working more than 50 students per day in the fourth quarter; the district reviews these cases quarterly and compensates per state law.
Personnel actions: The board approved a list of certified resignations, and it approved hiring a substantial group of licensed and classified staff for the 2025–26 year. The board also added a classified salary schedule position for a registered behavior technician after a unanimous recommendation from PPC.
Process and votes: Most approvals were by voice vote with the chair calling for ‘‘all in favor’’ and recording unanimous ayes; the minutes do not list roll-call tallies for those items. The superintendent and administrative staff described the background and answered board questions before votes.
What’s next: Administration will bring a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for the intermediate school project back to the board for approval once bids are finalized. The after-school operator will begin outreach to families once the contract is in place.
