Carson City resident praises library staff and signals interest in trustee vacancy

Carson City resident Ed Skudlarik used the May 8 public-comment period to praise the Carson City Library's staff and programs and to say he is considering applying for a forthcoming vacant trustee position.

Skudlarik described a lifelong appreciation for libraries and said his mother, a donor to a library in Batavia, Illinois, was honored in that library as part of her celebration of life. He told trustees he has observed local library programs and used the library's conference rooms and administrative services while volunteering in Carson City.

"I've had a love for libraries for a long time," Skudlarik said, and he praised the library director and staff for their work in the community. He said he has read about the current trustees and their qualifications and "really don't feel qualified," but added he is considering applying for one of the vacant trustee positions when an opening occurs.

During a later public-comment turn, Skudlarik asked for more detail about two items listed in the director's report: the Community Chest Family Connection and the Medicare seminars, asking who would provide services and what would be offered. Staff said more information would be available through the library's public announcements and program listings.
