District updates public on Falcon Center, pool closure and concession-stand timetable; pickleball courts added to campus plan

District and construction officials updated the board on ongoing capital projects, including completed technology classrooms, the start of phase 3 work at the high school and plans for a concession stand and athletic improvements.

A campus construction representative said work completed over the summer included new technology classrooms and a wood workshop with updated electrical and dust-extraction systems. Phase 3 contracts have been awarded and work has begun in the pool area; the presenter said, "that pool will be down now for the next, 12 months or so," and that work is expected to continue into fall 2026. After the pool work, contractors will move into the kitchen and cafeteria, tech/STEM wing and the two-story main office.

Officials said bid documents for a new concession stand will be issued soon with construction slated to begin in the fall and finish the following spring. The presenter also said crews have installed five pickleball courts on a blacktop near the football field and that two additional courts are planned at Blaisdell; district staff said a middle-school concept also is under consideration to provide courts across the district.

Board members visiting the site noted significant visible improvement to fields and facilities and the administration said planning for another capital project is already underway. Temporary fencing will remain in place around active construction zones for security during downtimes, the construction representative said.

No formal board action was required at the meeting; the presentation served as an update on construction schedules and upcoming bids.
