The council voted to adopt the 2025 Hazard Mitigation and Flood Management Plan, a FEMA- and state-reviewed update that the town says is required to be eligible for post-disaster federal aid. The plan was developed with consultant VHB and a town committee of planning, public works, police, fire and emergency management staff; the town said it received a 2023 grant of $45,100 with a $4,500 local match and has spent about $26,600 to date on the consultant.
Councilors also approved a short internal budget transfer of $8,000 from a fuel line to vehicle maintenance for the North Smithfield Fire and Rescue, and accepted tax abatements totaling $2,041.24.
All motions taken during the meeting were passed by roll call with affirmative votes recorded by council members present.
