Board names new principals and directors; contracts take effect this spring and summer
Summary

The Berkeley County Board of Education approved multiple administrative appointments during its May 5 meeting.
The board approved naming Leslie Howder as principal at Saint Stephen Middle School with a contract start date of May 6, 2025. Jason Chauvers was approved as principal at Cane Bay Middle School with a contract start date of May 6, 2025. The board also approved naming Keith Eno as director of facilities with a contract start June 23, 2025, and Kim McClary as director of student and family support with a contract start of July 2025 (recorded as 07/01/2025 during the motion).
Each appointment was presented as part of the administration’s personnel recommendations discussed in executive session; the board opened the meeting after executive session and approved the recommendations in open session, recording unanimous votes on the motions.
Administration and board members congratulated the appointees and indicated the human-resources and payroll offices will finalize contracts and onboarding steps prior to the effective dates.
