The Waukesha City Building & Grounds Committee voted May 5 to remove a designated handicap parking spot at the northwest corner of Madison Street and Washington Avenue.
Committee members said the space was originally installed at the request of former Alderman Corey Payne to serve a nearby resident who was in poor health. Staff reported one of the original signs had already been taken down and only one remained. Public Works recommended removal because the resident who had prompted the installation has since died.
Committee member Rick Lemke moved to approve removal; Mike seconded. The committee voted in favor on a voice vote and the motion passed.
Public Works said staff would handle the sign removal and update records accordingly. No ordinance, resolution number or fiscal impact was provided in the meeting record.
