District to seek state approval to use virtual days for weather makeup

Board members raised access questions. One trustee asked how the district would run virtual instruction for students who do not take devices home; the district replied that device availability and technical details were described in the packet and that most students in grades 3 and up have take-home devices. The district also said this would avoid scrambling to set up instruction after a hurricane or multiple closure days.
District staff said they have not attempted this previously and that the state’s approval would be tentative or conditional. Trustees requested detail about device distribution and readiness as part of the board’s decision materials. No formal vote was taken during the workshop; staff said the application and any required board approvals would be filed per state guidance.
