The presentation listed areas of concern that MARC has highlighted for the Kansas City region: FEMA safety and security initiatives; Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) programs including Head Start and Aging and Adult Services; Department of Energy (DOE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) energy and environmental initiatives; and USDA and HHS health and nutrition investments. The presenter said MARC plays an important role coordinating federal funds across jurisdictions and nonprofit partners and emphasized MARC’s track record of fiscal integrity and public accountability.
Staff distributed the MARC report at the prior meeting and asked the council to note the regional implications of potential federal funding disruptions. No council action was required at the meeting; the briefing was provided for information and situational awareness.
