Planning commission roundup: consent agenda, extensions and director’s report

The City of Anna Planning and Zoning Commission completed several routine and procedural items at its May 5 meeting, including approval of consent agenda items, an extension request for a residential replat and a director’s report on recent council actions.
Consent agenda: The commission approved consent items 6 through 13 by unanimous vote.
Extension for DHI Anna replat: The commission opened and held a public hearing for a requested 30-day extension for a residential replat (DHI Anna, Block A Lots 2R and 3R in the Woods at Lindsay Place). Staff recommended holding the public hearing open until the June 2 Planning and Zoning Commission meeting; the commission approved the extension to June 2. The motion was approved unanimously.
Director’s report: Scott Simms (city staff) told the commission the City Council on April 8 approved a CBD and smoking-related ordinance that expanded a buffer around schools and churches from 1,000 feet (the commission’s recommendation) to 2,000 feet. Simms also reported the council approved the rezoning of the Anna CDC property on April 22.
Other items: The meeting also included separate deliberations on Liberty Hills preliminary plat (approved), the Sir Duncan development plat (denied) and a specific-use permit for a telecommunications tower in Urban Crossing (approved). See separate articles for those items.
Votes at a glance: Consent items 6–13 — approved unanimously. Item 14 (DHI Anna replat) — extension to June 2 approved unanimously. Item 15 (Liberty Hills preliminary plat) — approved, 7–0. Item 16 (Sir Duncan development plat) — denied, 7–0. Item 17 (Urban Crossing specific-use permit for 120-foot monopole) — approved, 6–4 with 1 abstention.
