Riley County Treasurer Shiloh Hager told the County Commission on May 5 that second-half 2024 property taxes are due Monday, May 12; because May 10 falls on a Saturday the due date moves to the next business day. Hager advised that mailed payments must be postmarked by May 12 to avoid interest.
Hager said interest starts accruing on May 13 and reiterated that delinquent personal property taxes (including certain vehicle, watercraft and oil-and-gas listings) will prevent customers from conducting motor-vehicle transactions until taxes are paid. She advised multiple payment options: in-person at 110 Courthouse Plaza (hours provided), a lobby drop box, an exterior after-hours drop box, an online payment portal (fees apply: $1.50 for eCheck or 2.5% for card payments with a $2.95 minimum) and a phone payment option at (785) 377‑5385.
Ending: Hager encouraged taxpayers with questions to call the treasurer’s office at (785) 537‑6321 and reminded the public to allow postage time for mailed payments.
