Forsyth County plans one-year renewal with Mythix for Oracle licensing at $692,062; CIO says vendor is a reseller

Gary Kuntz, Forsyth County chief information officer, briefed the board on a one-year renewal recommendation with Mythix LLC for Oracle licensing, support and subscription services for the county’s ERP and financial systems (FC Connect).

Kuntz said the county issued a request for proposals in February and received one response. The one-year renewal would cost $692,062.20. He said Mythix is a reseller for Oracle licensing; primary support and contractual obligations for the Oracle product are with Oracle, and county recourse for data-breach or manufacturer-level obligations would be governed by Oracle’s terms.

Commissioners questioned whether the county could contract directly with Oracle and about remedies in the event of a data breach. Kuntz said Oracle does not resell directly to end users in the county’s procurement setup and that the county will pursue broader bidding and a multiyear RFP next year to encourage competition and seek better pricing. He also said he did not have the breach‑liability language at the briefing but that standard terms and conditions apply through the reseller and Oracle agreements.
