The Carroll County Commission opened two bids for a wheelchair-accessible van on May 5 and discussed drivetrain and option differences, but did not award a contract.
Bids discussed during the meeting included a MobilityWorks quote listed in the meeting record at $85,186 for a model from its Londonderry office. Commissioners also discussed proposals for an all-wheel-drive Ford Transit conversion with a $88,648 total and a rear-wheel-drive option listed at $77,255 with available options: a level-2 charger for $1,100 and a software package for $1,440. Meeting participants noted some inconsistencies in the submitted quotes and asked county staff to review the proposals.
Commissioners indicated a likely operational preference for all-wheel drive for winter reliability but did not make a formal selection. The commission left the bids for further review by the facilities director and the administrator, who will evaluate specifications, drivetrain choices and final pricing before returning a recommendation to the commission.
No formal vote or award was recorded on the wheelchair-van item at the May 5 meeting.
