Tim Laurett, director of Parks and Recreation, introduced representatives from Capital Federal and the Parks for All Foundation and thanked them for the donation and ongoing partnership for the annual fireworks event. John Dicus of Capital Federal said the foundation increased its gift this year to $35,000 to keep the fireworks display the same size despite inflation.
Laurett and commissioners thanked the donors and posed for photographs with the representatives. County officials said the donation is critical to providing the fireworks experience at Lake Shawnee and that the display is a community event many residents look forward to.
